Mr Viktor Orbán met Czech President Vacláv Klaus
The European Union is not about giving up our national interests. On the contrary, it is for making them prevail to a greater extent than so far. We will be in need of a politics in the EU which consists of standing up for our national interests in the strongest, most determined way, conscious of our goals, said Fidesz-president Viktor Orbán after having met Mr Klaus.

As he said, the negotiations centered around Europe's future and the approaching European elections. Talking about the Visegrád Cooperation, Mr Orbán pointed out: it has been a very important initiative until the enlargement of the European Union, but a completely new age is about to begin now, when national interests within the EU can best be represented by ad-hoc agreements, compromises and confrontations. I do not believe that we will make our efforts in this quadrilateral setup in most of the cases, he said.
Answering to questions related to the Benes-decrees, Mr Orbán emphasized that the debate is not with the Czech Republic but with Slovakia, where Hungarians are exposed to the discriminating clauses of the decrees concerned, which are based on collective guilt. No legal text may remain in force in a new Europe which are based on collective guilt, Mr Orbán said.
