Fidesz Congress: Orbán re-elected, two new vice-presidents in the presidium

Mr Viktor Orbán was re-elected almost unanimously as President of Fidesz at the Congress held last Saturday in Budapest. The party's presidium was extended to include two new vice-presidents: Mrs Ildikó Gáll Pelcz, local councillor in Miskolc and Head of Department at the Miskolc University, as well as former finance minister Mihály Varga. Incumbent vice-presidents Mr Pál Schmitt and Mr Zoltán Pokorni were re-elected in their capacity. Under the statutes of Fidesz, the presidium continues to include the party's head of the parliamentary caucus (Mr János Áder) and the chairman of its national board (Mr László Kövér).

Under the changes made in the statutes, the heads of the party platforms (women's, agrarian, workers', rural, etc.) will not any more belong to the presidium but will report to the chairman of the national board.
