Fidesz Executive Vice-Chairman János Áder sent a letter of congratulation to Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel on Monday, 25 November 2002, welcoming the victory of the Austrian People's Party at Sunday's general elections. The letter is as follows:
dr. Wolfgang Schüssel
Chancellor of Austria
Vienna
Budapest, 25 November 2002
Dear Mr. Chancellor,
Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Party followed yesterday's Austrian elections with well-founded optimism. It was with great pleasure that we realised that the citizens of Austria have approved of the achievements of the People's Party and Your Excellency's personal performance by a much wider margin than expected. On behalf of Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Party, please allow me to make use of this occassion to express my sincere congratulations upon ÖVP's overwhelming victory.
The superior and historic success of the Austrian center-right is a great acknowledgement of the policy, based on our commonly shared values, that Your Excellency has always pursued in a consistent and authentic manner. The Hungarian people will also remember having known you as a sincere advocate of Europe's reunification.
On my own behalf and in the name of Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Party, I would like to wish you continued success in your work.
Yours sincerely,
János Áder
